P. Cubensis
The B+ strain is one of the most commonly cultivated cubensis strains, prized for its resistance to colder temperatures and consistently large yields.
It grows large/extra large fruiting bodies although at a slower rate than most other cubensis. It has a broad caramel to brown coloured pileus (cap) that sometimes inverts at the margin with age. Its stipe is moderate width and moderately curvaceous. Prolific depositor of spores.
Its effects and potency are well-reviewed on many "shroom" forums. Medium potency with effects including strong spiritual feelings of connectedness, euphoria, and warm grounded energy. It is a great strain for beginners in regard to both cultivation and use.
What Do B+ Shrooms Look Like?
B+ mushrooms have relatively large light brown caps with a dark brown, almost black center. The interior of the cap is white.
Microdose: 0.2 to 0.5 grams
Threshold dose: 0.5 to 1 gram
Psychoactive dose: 2 to 5 grams
Heroic dose: Greater than 5 grams
Penis Envy is one of the most distinct, and most popular cubensis strains, named for its often phallic proportions. It exhibits underdeveloped caps, and very thick, dense stipes (stems/stalks).
It is the result of extensive genetic isolation theorized to have been conducted by legendary psychonaut Terrence Mckenna.
Its fruits are typically shorter and dense, and can be very large in size. Caps are often lighter coloration from gold to caramel-brown. Stipes (stems/stalks) are usually of sizeable thickness, and sporation is light.
It is renowned for its potency, producing up to 50% more psilocybin than most other cubensis. Effects include intense euphoria, mental clarity and perspective on personal issues, and tremendous joy.

P. Cubensis
Amazon cubensis is a popular strain among cultivators and users alike. It originates from deep in the Amazonian rain forest. It is one of the most common cubensis strains.
It is known for fruiting few mushrooms of large/very large size (when cultivated indoors). Often a thick and hardy stipe (stem/stalk) that is necessary to support the giant pileus (cap) that opens to almost plane, sometimes inverted when mature.
Its spores are purplish-black and its mycelium is very rhrizomorphic (strong and ropelike).
It's effect is reported to be intense bodily vibration or buzzing, the desire to move, mild geometric pattern visual stimulation, and deep inner peace and reflection.
Texas is home to a huge number of magic mushroom strains, as the cyclical humidity and temperatures make for great growing conditions, not to mention vast amounts of cow dung scattered across the state.
It’s unclear exactly where the Texas strain was collected or by whom — but there are now several offshoots of the original genetics for this sample — including Texas Penis Envy and Texas Redcaps.
There is no official “Texas Strain” — and depending on which vendor you order from, you’ll likely get something totally different. We’ve ordered this strain from 5 vendors so far, all of them were different from each other.
The general consensus is that the true Texas strain is characterized by the production of small but dense mushrooms. There is very little water content in these mushrooms which means that when it comes time to dry them out, they become rock-hard and don’t change much in size.
The Texas strain is also noted for having a higher than average potency — although specific potency testing on this strain has beer been performed to confirm this.
Potency & Psilocybin Content
There are no reliable analytical reports covering the potency of the Texas strain. Normally we turn to academic studies conducting lab testing on mushroom samples or competitions such as the Oakland Hyphae Psilocybin Cup to assess the quantitative potency of various strains.
With that said, we estimate the tryptamine content (psilocybin and psilocin combined) to fall somewhere between 0.9% and 1.8% based on the qualitative effects of using this mushroom. It’s notoriously potent, with most users claiming the Texas strain to be some of the strongest mushrooms they’ve ever tried.
Very likely, this is the result of their increased density compared to other mushrooms. One single shroom may weigh up to 60% more than another mushroom of the same size. More density means more active ingredients.
Golden Teacher

Golden Teacher, also known as Golden Emperor is perhaps the most well known cubensis strain. It was first classified in the 1980's but the specifics of its discovery are shrouded in mystery.
It produces medium to large size fruiting bodies, with bell shaped orangish brown caps that often have a distinct whitish yellow speckling. Its thick white stipe (stem/stalk) often thickens towards the base
Its experience include a mix of mental and bodily effects. Its also known for often eliciting spiritual or mystical experiences.
Pink Buffalo Mushroom
You didn’t come this far to stopPink Buffalo[i] is a Psilocybe cubensis strain originally found in Thailand. According to legend, the man who named it and went on to popularize it internationally actually found the mushrooms in a field where a pink buffalo was grazing (that is possible, as an online search for “pink buffalo animal” will attest).
The strain is said to be on the more potent side, as implied by the deep blue color that develops when the stems are bruised or cut. The caps tend to be a bit dark. Pink buffalo is also considered quite easy to cultivate.
The effects of taking pink buffalo are essentially those of taking any P. cubensis strain. In general, these mushrooms cause changes in mood, thought-patterns, and perception, plus certain physical symptoms. Ideally, that means euphoria, insight, and interesting visual hallucinations (at least with higher doses), but the thoughts and feelings the user takes into the trip influence its direction—fear, disturbing ideas, and disturbing visions are possible. And in either case, nausea, vomiting, poor coordination, and more serious side effects are also possible. And yet psilocybin mushrooms are a relatively safe way to alter the mind, provided one follows certain common-sense safety procedures.
Pink Buffalo is said to offer a gentler, kinder version of the typical Psilocybe high.
